Choose from the following courses:
Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course
Whether you are new to the Lay Servant Ministries program or need a refresher on all the opportunities for service offered in the United Methodist Church, this is the course for you. Lead by Certified Lay Servant Millie McDowell, you will be encouraged to recognize and use your spiritual gifts to strengthen the church in its goal of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Life Together in the United Methodist Connection
An advanced Polity course
Missouri Conference Associate Lay Leader Jeff Fothergill will lead this class using the Wesleyan theological frame of "connection" to help you understand United Methodism's polity and organization as the intersection of our beliefs, our mission, and our practice. This fulfills a course requirement for the Certified Lay Speaker designation.
Dancing with Words
An advanced class in storytelling
Whether it's preaching from the pulpit to a congregation or witnessing to your faith in a private setting, the elements of storytelling can enhance the power of your message. In this class you will learn what constitutes a good story, explore storytelling styles, learn effective storytelling techniques and practice (and tell) stories of your own from your own experiences. Lead by Ken Cieslak, District Director of Lay Servant Ministries.
